Googandanimal

Animal and his girlfriend Go-Go.

Animal was the boyfriend of Go-Go West. The pair resembled Archie's classmates Midge and Moose, but Animal wasn't as possessive as Moose was towards his girlfriend. He was a high school athlete that lived in Centerville.

His other classmates included "America’s Teen-age Sweetheart" Tippy Teen, glamorous and snobbish Peggy Fleagle, nerd-in-residence Egghead Eggers, clumsy red-head & Tippy's boyfriend Tommy Trippit, and school bully Ashley Hartburn.

Their stories dealt with familiar teen fare such as school assignments, un-groovy parents, fleeting opportunities for fame and fortune, sports try-outs, battles of the sexes, and of course an unhealthy dose of romantic rivalry.

Notes[]

  • Tower Comics never registered its titles with the US copyright office, nor did it include a correct copyright notice on their books. The copyright notice on the first issue was not in the proper location of the book which under copyright law at the time of it's publication had to be "either upon the title page or upon the first page of text of each separate number or under the title heading." According to US copyright law, all works published between 1923-1977 that did not comply with copyright law became public domain upon publication. So, because the first issue had an incorrect notice, the characters fell into the public domain.
  • Tippy Teen and its spin-off, Go-Go and Animal, featured many stories drawn by Schwartz, as well as contributions from moonlighting Archie artists like Harry Lucey and Dan DeCarlo.
  • Atlas Seaboard later reprinted stories from Tippy Teen (Tower, 1965 series) and other associated Tower titles from 1960'with the Tippy's name changed to Vicki Young. Her supporting cast such as Animal did not have their names changed.
