Origin[]

Aouda is an Indian princess who accompanied Phileas Fogg and Passepartout on their world traveling expedition.

The daughter of a Bombay Parsi merchant, Aouda was married against her will to the old raja of Bundelkhand. After her husband's death, she was to be sacrificed as a sati at his funeral pyre. Fogg and his company rescue her and she becomes their permanent companion.

When they arrive in Britain late, Aouda fears she ruined Fogg by causing delays in his journey. However, he denies this. Aouda proposes to Fogg, and he accepts. This saves the day for them all, as they accidentally arrived in London early and had enough time to sprint to the Reform Club to win the wager. The company arrives just in time. Aouda offers to end the engagement, but Fogg, deeply in love and grateful for Aouda's help, does not hear of it. They are happily married, with Passepartout having the honor of giving her away at the wedding.
