The Ape Man was once a normal man years ago who upset a local witch doctor. In retribution, the witch doctor cursed the man, transforming him into a large giant ape creature. The only way that the curse could be lifted was for him to transfer it to another person, an incredibly hard task in the uninhabited jungles of the Lost Island. His long lasting curse, however, finally came to an end when he found the escaped convict Salty Gruner.
Salty fainted from fear, only to recover some time later thinking that he had dreamed the entire encounter. He soon discovered, however, that the curse had been transferred to him, and he was now destined to live in the jungle until he could find someone else to pass the curse to.
