Origin[]
Archie Andrews is an only child, who resides in the town of Riverdale where he attends Riverdale High. He is portrayed as kind-hearted, well-intentioned, and friendly, but is quite clumsy and accident-prone, with many of his mishaps coming from his attempts to help or impress others but resulting in causing further trouble anyway.
Archie is not especially academic; he comes from a fairly normal background and despite getting average grades, he is the most popular boy in school. He’s more into social life, dating, being with friends. He has been friends with a number of other students, including two love-interests, Betty Cooper and Veronica Lodge, who both compete for his attention; his laidback sidekick Jughead Jones, Reggie Mantle, and Moose McGee since a young age.

Notes[]
- In the first Archie story in Pep Comics #22, the narration notes that Archie hates being called "Archie", and prefers to be called "Chick." This is ignored with the next story.
- A parody of Archie named Archer appears in Harvey Kurtzman and Will Elder's story "Goodman Goes Playboy", which is also in the public domain.
