Professor Archimedes Q. Porter is the father of Jane Porter. He strands them in Africa on vain pursuit of a treasure as the result of early stages of dementia. There he finds himself under the protection of Tarzan.
In The Return of Tarzan (1913), He performs Tarzan and Jane's wedding ceremony as he had been ordained a minister in his youth.
