Notes[]

  • The GCD considers Edmond Good's authorship to be uncertain. The cover of All Great Comics #13 is currently attributed to Jack Kamen. Interestingly, the two other appearances of Ayesha are attributed to Edmond Good. When attempting to credit stories and artwork from the Golden Age, it is common to confuse artists such as Jack Kamen, Edmond Good, and Matt Baker. Their similar artistic styles often lead to misattribution, with many stories initially credited to one artist and later reassigned as further research clarifies the true illustrator.
  • Ayesha shares a striking physical resemblance to Rulah and Nomad Queen, whose authorship, like hers, is uncertain.
  • Many sites claim many more appearances of this character based on an identical-looking female appearing on the cover with Dagar however, these "cover-only" female characters were never named and almost every female character Dagar encountered (both good and bad) looked the same!
  • Interestingly, a different character named Torsah appears in the second story of issue #14, while Ayesha features in the first story and on the cover of the same issue. Given the similar visual designs and the close proximity of their appearances, some confusion between the two characters has arisen. However, Ayesha stands out as the more prominent figure due to her reappearance in the following issue. As was common in the Golden Age of comics, character continuity was often fluid, and names or roles could shift from story to story without much editorial consistency.
  • She shares a name with the enigmatic and powerful villainess She Who Must Be Obeyed, created by H. Rider Haggard in his 1887 novel She, meets the famous English hunter Allan Quartermain in the crossover novel She and Allan (1921).
