Origin[]
Babbit and Catstello are a pair of bumbling cats who are not very bright. They prefer to attack their prey straight on rather than think up useful plans. Babbit is the smarter and taller of the two but is incredibly arrogant and shortsighted, while Catstello is short and stout, naïve, and speaks with a loud, childish Brooklyn accent.
In their debut appearance, they unsuccessfully attempted to catch Orson, but were outwitted by the bird.
Public Domain Appearances[]
Animation[]
- A Tale of Two Kitties (1942)
Notes[]
- The two are parodies of popular comedians Bud Abbott and Lou Costello.
- The duo would later appear in other Looney Tunes shorts, but were reimagined as dogs or mice. Neither of these designs have entered the public domain.
