Beanbags is a scrappy adventurous lad who worked on a garbage barge in Manhattan, operated by Captain Tubb along with his daughter Idabelle and the handsome he-man coworker Bozo.
While towing a large barge of garbage, Bozo helped himself to some fowl-smelling Zanymulch, a poignant souplike concoction containing all the essential vitamins and nutrients. The military is called into action due to complaints of the unpleasant smell of the substance, which is effective enough to be used in lethal warfare. They are commissioned to find the secret formula for Zanymulch and travel to the island nation of Zanytopia.
Beanbags accompanies Bozo on their mission, but things quickly turn sour when the stowaway Idabelle sneaks her own batch of Zanymulch aboard. The smell knocks out the pilots, forcing them to parachute to Zanytopia. They meet King Notzo Mportant, who agrees to make a large batch of Zanymulch but accidentally adds too much schmunia, causing his castle to explode. The King complies to return the team to the USA aboard the royal yacht. However, they get caught in a storm and are sent to the neighboring island of Disturbia, where they discover that the rain there is Zanymulch.
