Notes[]

  • The Big Beast Quintet ident was released without a copyright notice, and not registered within 5 years, making it public domain under 80s-era copyright law
  • The Nickelodeon name remains trademarked, and the do-wop Nickelodeon theme featured, "Calling Cades", is most likely still copyrighted.
  • When Nickelodeon was looking for pilots for what would eventually become the first 3 Nicktoons (Doug, Rugrats, and The Ren & Stimpy Show) in 1989, a Big Beast Quintet cartoon pilot was made by Japhet Asher and George Evelyn of Colossal Pictures and rejected. This pilot is currently lost media, and if it were found would remain copyrighted, as it was unpublished.
  • The Big Beast Quintet ident is sometimes misidentified by the name of its music track, "Calling Cades" - "cade" is a term for an orphaned animal raised by humans, which would give the jovial logo a somber element if this incorrect info is taken as true.
