Major Randy Ronald was one of the Air Force’s best fighter pilots, but he was shot down and presumed dead. However, he had actually been captured by the Germans and disfigured beyond recognition. He escaped and, after donning a mask, dedicated his life to exterminating brute force and injustice.

- A. C. Hollingsworth was African-American and had intended on Bronze Man being the same while wearing an iron mask. When the issue was printed, however, the character was said to be wearing a "bronze mask" which wasn't really bronze. He simply looked like any other Caucasian character with no race ever mentioned.
