“This is the story of a man with an ugly face and a handsome heart...Buck Hoskins, daredevil showman, gifted actor, quick-fisted friend, who earned his title the hard way: Captain Stand-In!” Hoskins is the best stunt-man in Hollywood, but when the Japanese bomb Pearl Harbor he enlists and becomes a pilot and squadron leader. He is captured by the Germans and tortured, leaving his face to be reconstructed by Army surgeons. After the war he becomes a stunt-man again, fighting against former Nazis and other criminals.
