Origin[]

Cold is a character used by Frederic Arnold Kummer in his 1922 educational children's book, The First Days of Man. Cold is the brother of Heat. In the book, "Then God calls Mother Nature to Him and told her to get Earth ready for Man to live on." Mother Nature first calls on Heat. She then sends his brother, Cold. "And Cold came rushing up, his great white wings glittering with frost."

Mother nature tells him to blow on Earth with all his might to prepare Earth for man. After she leaves, Cold blows on Earth and cools down the hot gases.

"Cold, who was the spirit of the great outer darkness in which the Sun and Stars move, hovered about Earth and blew on it with all his might, and as his icy breath swept over the fiery Earth, the hot gases began to get cooler and cooler, and at last they turned back to liquids again."

Powers and abilities[]

Cold is a force of nature, taking up the literal meaning of the word cold. He uses his icy breath to cool Earth, and is extremely patient at his job, taking millions of years to cool Earth. He blows his breath to create rain. He asks Rain to fall on Earth to cool the rocks.
