Cornelius "Corny" Rooster is an anthropomorphic rooster and the mascot of Kellogg's Corn Flakes, debuting in 1957. He has a green body, red comb, yellow beak, and multicolored tail.

In early television commercials, he wasn't able to crow until he ate a bowl of Corn Flakes; the narrator stating "Nothing gets you crowing in the morning like Kellogg's Corn Flakes." In later commercials, Cornelius became a vaguely imaginative character who manifests by jumping off the box of cereal and granting the little boy a wish. However, when the wishes prove to be dangerous, Cornelius sings to the boy "Tall up and up and up and up and up with the tall corn taste of Kellogg's!", enabling the boy to grow tall and save the day.

Notes[]

  • The earliest TV Kellogg's Corn Flakes commercials were released without copyright notices.
  • Kellogg's Corn Flakes and Cornelius are still trademarked by the Kellogg's Company, so the character’s name can only be used within the interior of a story, not to promote a brand.
  • The earliest commercials were animated by Hanna-Barbara Studios.
