The Crocodile is Captain Hook's only nemesis besides Peter Pan, and also the only thing for which he is mentioned as having any fear. She ate Hook's missing hand when Peter cut it from him in battle, and longs for the rest of him. Hook subsequently tricks her into swallowing an alarm clock so that he can know of the creature's approach by the ticking.


  • The Peter Pan play is not in the public domain in England or the United States. Special legislation was passed that gave the play a perpetual copyright. The characters, however, are in the public domain (as are the novels).
  • She has been shown to be a "good" character from Peter's point of view.
  • She is erroneously thought to be a male, however, is female.
