Origin[]
Dagwood Bumstead is the secondary protagonist of the comic strip Blondie by Chic Young, he is the boyfriend (later husband) of the titular character and the (former) son of Mr. and Mrs. Bumstead. He was originally the wealthy heir to a railroad fortune and one day introduced his girlfriend (who was a poor flapper at the time) to his parents, who questioned her.
Eventually, he would get engaged and marry Blondie in early 1933 but was disowned by his parents as a result and he loses his inheritance as a result. Despite this, he and Blondie lived happily for many decades throughout the strip.
Dagwood has a obsession with food, and has became more of his iconic trait throughout the years.
