Origin[]

Dancing Flowers are a recurring troupe of anthropomorphic flowers that dance to whatever theme is playing. They generally emerge from the ground from which they’re planted (initially resembling real flowers), possessing spindly legs in place of their roots, leaves for arms, and a face where their floret is, surrounded by petals.

While the exact origin of the trope is unknown, they have made numerous appearances throughout many early cartoons in the early-mid 20th Century.

The Silly Symphony cartoon, Springtime, may be the screen’s first dancing flowers, a group of sunflowers who reveal ladybugs similarly dancing amongst the center flower's petals. Afterwards, the flowers are shown by a stream with two trees also swaying rhythmically beside them.
