Diego Manero and his brother, Pepe, were owners of a hotel in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, who were funneling money from their hotel enterprise in order to stage a political coup and take over the country. They were also secretly being funded by Nazi officials.
Diego was the one who branded Baroness Erica von Kampf with a swastika in the middle of her forehead.
