The Dog is an American cartoon character created in 1926 by Fleischer Studios, his first appearance was in the cartoon "My Old Kentucky Home" which is notable as the first animated cartoon to have a character to speak, with the dog saying "Follow The Ball and join in everybody"

- The Dog was not named until 1930 cartoon "Hot Dog" where he was named Bimbo and his design was standardized in 1931 cartoon "The Herring Murder Case". These cartoons will enter the public domain on January 1, 2026 and 2027 respectively.
