Dr. Diman Saraf was a disgraced physician and Nazi who had an aide named Haji and was in love with Erica von Kampf. General Bruno Beitz hoped sought out the doctor to have Diman transplant Captain Dan Carey's arm to replace Bruno's missing one. Bruno then challenges Dan to a fight, but Gruen has Hans Heinrich abduct Marla Drake, also known as the hero Miss Fury, and fled attempting to return to Germany.
Later, Diman treats the wounds of Gary Hale, the former fiance of Marla Drake, but injected him with a stimulant that wore off the next day, causing Gary to crash his plane, apparently killing him. Diman then arrived at the Granada to meet with Erica, bringing along young Gary Hale Jr., son of Gary and Erica whom Diman had raised abusively. The doctor had experimented on the Baroness's child in an attempt to increase the child's intelligence. He also invented a chemical that can quickly dissolve everything except metal and glass, and used it on the boy's pet rabbit to test its efficacy.
Dr. Diman later found out that Erica intended to betray him, as Gary Jr. wanders off and encounters Marla. Marla and the child bond, but Diman recovered the child and intended to return to his estate to murder little Gary.Marla subsequently rescued Gary Jr. from Diman and returned to America, adopting the child and naming him Darion Drake, but never learns of his true parentage.
