The Electronic Calculator was a giant red ticker tape robot that weighed 50 tons and was created by Professor Laurie to answer questions that mankind had yet to find any answers for.

The machine was first asked by Dr. Cort how to square a circle and sure enough through ticker tape the Electronic Calculator answered instantly. Mathematicians asked the machine for a week various questions that it easily answered, the questions becoming more complex with answers becoming more difficult to prove and understand. Before long the scientists noticed that the ticker tape was flooding the floor of the building the machine was occupied in while tests were being done to prove its answers. The janitor noticed the machine had moved a yard to the left on its own and the following morning it had begun to levitate. As it was flying the scientists noticed the ticker tape had stopped, ending the flow of answers. That evening the machine had crashed through the glass ceiling and left Earth, leaving message that mankind was not smart enough to understand it so it traveled to the next galaxy at the second planet of the third sun.

Notes[]

  • Electronic Calculator's appearance entered the public domain because it was not renewed 28 years after its first publication. For more information please see the Copyright Office Records and read our the section of FAQ about copyright renewals.
  • While unspecified, the next galaxy may be referring to the Andromeda Galaxy as it is the closest to the Milky Way. In Marvel Comics continuity the dominate race of the Andromeda are the Skrulls, making it possible the Electronic Calculator was referring to them.
