Emília is a living rag doll that belongs to Narizinho. She first appeared in "A Menina do Narizinho Arrebitado".

Origin[]

Emília had her first appearance in the book "A Menina do Narizinho Arrebitado" written by Brazilian writer and translator Monteiro Lobato in 1920, and remained one of the main characters in the series of books "Sítio do Picapau Amarelo" that were published until 1947. She is a rag doll who lives on a farm and was created by the maid Nastácia for the little girl Narizinho and later coming to life after ingesting a special pill created by Dr. Caramujo. The character is known by her extroverted, bossy and cocky manner, as well as being quite talkative and fearless during her adventures with Narizinho and Pedrinho, in addition to being married to the pig (proclaimed marquis) Rabicó, which makes her proclaim herself a Marchioness. She also has the magical ability to create things from her imagination using a skill known as "Pretend" (Faz de Conta).
