Origin[]
Herbie Popnecker was the antithesis of superheroes. He was short, fat, emotionless, terse, young, but, also one of the most powerful and well-known beings in the universe! He was irresistible to women, consulted by world leaders, and stronger than the Devil.
Although being "well-known in the universe," his father and mother were completely unaware of his great powers and fame with his father constantly calling him a "little fat nothing" even though he was a financial failure with one poorly-conceived scheme after another that Herbie would bail him out of every time.
Powers and Abilities[]
He derived some of his powers from genetics and some from magical lollipops from the Unknown. Herbie's powers included:
- heat vision
- invisibility
- talking to animals
- flight
- (and whatever else the story called for)
Public Domain Appearances[]
- Forbidden Worlds #73, 94, 110, 114, 116
- Unknown Worlds #20
- Herbie #1-23
Notes[]
- While it's true that Herbie never donned a costume until Herbie #8, he was already referred to as "The Fat Fury" as early as Forbidden Worlds #116.
- Herbie is Alan Moore's favorite superhero.
