Origin[]

The Fightin' 5 are a commando squad of five men of different talents and careers recruited by the CIA in the fall of 1963 to combat international terrorists, despot dictators, and enemy agents. They also confront the occasional paranormal creature.

The members include (in no particular order):

  • Frenchie the Fox - A French American and ex-US Navy underwater demolitions expert.
  • Irv "The Nerve" David - A decorated former Israeli commando, member of Haganah and private investigator.
  • Granite Gallero - A former mercenary and weapons expert.
  • Hank Hennessey - A career US Army Captain in the Special Forces and Vietnam War veteran.
  • Tom-Tom - A former professional wrestler.
  • Sonya - An ex-Soviet agent recruited following the death of Irv in Peacemaker #1.

Characterized by blue battle uniforms and red berets, the squad use various military-use weapons systems and gadgets to carry out their missions and travel in a modified Convair B-58 Hustler Supersonic Bomber.

Notes[]

  • Like many Charlton Characters such as Tyro Team, Shape, and Spookman, the Fightin' 5 is in the public domain thanks to a lack of a proper copyright notice. This is because any work published without a proper copyright notice between 1923 and 1977 are in the public domain.
  • "Fightin' 5" has been held as a trademark by Canadian publisher Roger Broughto since Charlton Comics Group's dissolving. This means that although Fightin' 5 can legally be used within a work of fiction, it cannot be advertised with their name.
