Carborundum Man appeared before the Union of Super Heroes to claim to use his brain to catch the elusive Diamond Gang. After studying information on the jewels the gang are made of, he devised a plan to capture them at a sports stadium, using their psychological weaknesses: Emerald Man is green with envy, Ruby Man is easy to anger, and Sapphire Girl is sad ("blue") about being a criminal.
