Frankenberry is solemn and energetic, often roaming about the halls of the Haunted Mansion. However, if disturbed, he will go on a rampage to sell as many boxes of his cereal as possible. Even greater is his hatred for rival cereal mascots Count Chocula, Boo Berry, Yummy Mummy, Fruit Brute. He often gets into fights with Count Chocula. Boo Berry, Fruit Brute, and Yummy Mummy over what cereal is better.

- The original 1971 commercial for Count Chocula and Frankenberry as well as the later commercials of Boo Berry, Fruit Brute and Fruity Yummy Mummy were published without copyright notices, making them public domain when they first aired. The original cereal boxes also contained no notices and are considered the first published appearance of the characters.
- Frankenberry is still trademarked by General Mills, so the character’s name and appearance can only be used within the interior of a story, not to promote a brand.
