Origin[]

GPM is a "gijinka" interpretation of the Global Precipation Measurement satellite used by NASA and JAXA, created in a contest to design an anime-styled mascot, owing to the collaboration between American and Japanese astronauts. He is a state-of-the-art satellite who can create floating screens. After a somewhat hasty launch, he ends up sighting Mizu-Chan, the personifiaction of the rain and snow, and gains the assistance of the many other satellites to track her down, under the condition that all of the information they learn about her powers will be made open to all - when GPM eventually tracks Mizu down, he questions how she chooses when to rain, as well as why she causes floods and droughts, to which she leaves it as a puzzle - she's ultimately impressed by the satellite's research, and tells them that she wants to find out together, implying even she doesn't know the extent of her powers.

Notes[]

  • Because Raindrop Tales was made by NASA, a sector of the US government, it is automatically public domain.
