In Mystery Men Comics #10 (1940, Fox), the Green Syndicate use a strange machine emitting steam or vapor on a captive woman before the Blue Beetle bursts in, guns blazing, to save her. In issue #11, Blue Beetle continues his fight against what appears to be the same gang, rescuing another woman from danger.
