Haydée (or Haidee), the daughter of the betrayed Ali Pasha, is freed from slavery by Dantès and becomes his devoted companion. Her testimony exposes Fernand Mondego’s treachery, and her love ultimately softens Dantès’s heart. At the conclusion of the story, they depart for the East together.
