Héloïse de Villefort, obsessed with securing wealth for her son, poisons her husband’s family one by one. When Villefort discovers her guilt, he offers her the choice between disgrace and suicide. She takes her own life and kills her son Édouard as well, marking the complete moral collapse of Villefort’s household.
