Herman is a small anthropomorphic mouse with a penchant for mischief.
In his earliest appearances, he is seen living in the same chicken coop with Henry and Bertha Henpeck as well as his wife. Despite his careless, lazy lifestyle, Herman does share genuine sympathy for Henry and is willing to put himself in danger just to give the rooster some company and a much needed break from his abusive wife.
However, he is also not above starting conflicts to further his own agendas, such as when he convinces a cat and a dog to kill each other due to their nature in order to raid the kitchen fridge they were guarding.
