Origin[]

Homer & Oswald in All Wet (1927).
Homer is a badly behaved and mischievous kitten who often takes advantage of Oswald's kindness, or simply bothers him with pranks. His background and sometimes even his name depends on the short he appears in. Much like Sadie's name and background changed depending on the cartoon short. For example in Homeless Homer, Homer is an orphaned kitten.
In All Wet, A little cat runs up to Oswald, squirming and needing help. Oswald is at first impatient with him, then realizes what the little cat needs: directions to the nearest outhouse.
In Oh Teacher, An unnamed bully cat then steals Oswald's bike and Fanny. Oswald, ready to bludgeon the cat with a brick, patiently waits. The cat finds him and accidentally knocks himself out with the brick. Oswald pretends to have beaten him up, and gets back Fanny. Homer the Cat's more mature appearance in Oh Teacher, in which he's the same size as Oswald, looks a lot like Julius the Cat.

Notes[]
- The 2015 Norwegian comic, Just Like Magic!, which marked the first Oswald and Sadie (now called Ortensia) appearance in modern Disney comics outside of the Epic Mickey universe and Homer's first outing in more than 70 years.
- In this comic, Homer is Ortensia's bratty little brother, and both have a rich banker father called J. P. Whiskers. Homer wants to embarrass Oswald in front of Ortensia as much as possible. His appearance in this comic confirms his name as Homer in the Disney universe.
