Origin[]
Howland Owl is the self-appointed "expert" of the Okefenokee Swamp, claiming titles ranging from scientist and explorer to astronomer and witch doctor. Sporting horn-rimmed glasses and a wizard's cap adorned with stars and moons, Howland fancies himself the most knowledgeable creature around. However, his grasp of knowledge often blurs with old wives' tales and pompous jargon. Despite his lofty ambitions, like his short-lived attempt to start a school, Howland's ideas are typically harebrained. His closest friend is Churchy LaFemme, though their relationship is as unpredictable as his schemes.
