Jesus is the central figure to Christianity, being considered the Messiah and the Son of God. His story is told in the Christian Bible.

He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, was born of a virgin named Mary. During His life as a carpenter, He taught about the way of God performed miracles, founded the Christian Church, and preached forgiveness and salvation before being crucified (the cross is a symbol of Christianity because of this) to atone for the sins of the world. After a three-day death He was resurrected, thus defeating Satan. He then re-appeared to his disciples on Earth after His resurrection which ended in His ascension to Heaven. It is said that He will one day return to Earth to judge the living and the dead.

According to the Christian doctrine of the Trinity, God existing in three coequal, coeternal, consubstantial divine persons: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ) and God the Holy Spirit, three distinct persons (hypostases) sharing one essence/substance/nature. According to Islam, He is the Messiah and a prophet.

Other names and titles for Jesus in the the Gospels include Emmanuel, Christ, Lord, Master, Logos (the Word), Son of God, Son of man, Son of David, Son of Joseph, Lamb of God, New/Second/Last Adam, Light of the World, King of the Jews, and Rabbi.

Some titles of Jesus are unique to the Book of Revelation. He is referred to as "Faithful and True" in Revelation 19:11, the "Alpha and Omega" in Revelation 22:13 and elsewhere, and the "Morning Star" in Revelation 22:16.
