Kan Dal, a survivor of Atlantis, reveals that his people were nearly annihilated in a devastating atomic war with Mu. Determined to prevent history from repeating itself, he offers humanity the Atlanteans’ secrets for harnessing atomic energy peacefully. To share this knowledge, he contacts Bob Johnson, a U.S. diplomat at the United Nations, and Lizbeth, an archaeologist.
Kan Dal recounts Atlantis’s tragic history and entrusts them with the plans for cyclogines—devices capable of releasing atomic power in controlled amounts to eliminate war and poverty. But as they prepare to act, news arrives that U.S. radar has detected enemy bombers. Using a videophone, Bob makes a desperate final appeal to Moscow, pleading with Stalin to call off the attack. The story ends in suspense, questioning whether Bob’s message can avert “Atom-Day” and global destruction.
