Origin[]
Kathy Crane was Pines' answer to the teen genre leaded by Archie. Pines wasn't sure about her appareance or the tone of her stories, so she became progressily prettier. She began in Thrilling Comics as a homely brunette, then she suddenly switched to a beutiful blonde in her second story. When she get her own comic "Kathy", she became a redhead bombshell and stared in typical Archi-esque stories.
Kathy family arrived to the stereotypical suburb of Faiview, completing the number of 2500 people. Her father James, her mother Kenneth and her brother Kenny quickly adapted to the new and apparently friendly town. But Kate became moody and lonesome, feeling that nobody cared about her. She shouted to her mother that being the new girl on town sucked, that all the popular girls in the town already had their dates and she would be alone in the big dance in the school on Saturday night. To try the solve Kathy depression, her family tried to get her a date. Three boys, William, Gerald and Hank; were told to be her date, but they had a bad impression of her. Upon seeing her in person, they fought to be her date; so the three escorted her to the Saturday dance, where she did a great impression.
Then, she dated Jackie, a young employee in a store. But Jackie tried to serve condimments in her brother Kenny's ice cream, after he had called Jackie a jerk. Kathy eated the condimmented ice cream and rejected Jackie, who later got fired by his joke. Some misunderstandings happened and Kathy believed that Jackie killed himself for her, drowning in the lake. So when Jackie returned searching for clothes, Kathy believed him to be a ghost and went to the lake to invoke him. When Jackie finally shown that he was alive, Kathy hit him and rejected him again. Kathy had different dates like Welling Jones III or Hubert Pushbutton, before settling on Hank Daniels (a stupid and clumsy football player) as boyfriend.
