Golden Age Origin
The Kid was working on his grandfather's merchant marine ship. However, it was sunk by a German U-boat's torpedo. The Kid has a near death experience and meets the angelic Mr. Keeper. Keeper tells him that Kid has another 75 years till he is supposed to die and will be sent back to Earth. Kid was accompanied by Mr. Keeper back to Earth who of apologized for his untimely death by giving Kid exceptional super powers.
