Origin[]

Lensmen are larger-than-life members of an elite interstellar law enforcement organization known as the Galactic Patrol, overseen by the etherial client alien race known as the Arisians to aid in their conquest to maintain order in the galaxy. Each member of the oganization is given a Lens, a cybernetic, nearly sentient device attached to one's hand that initially grants the users with psychic powers, which can vary in strength and effectiveness from user to user, as well as providing an identification for Law Enforcement that cannot be forged or duplicated and instantly kills anyone attempting impersonation.

  • Kimball Kinnison: The protagonist of the books. Kinnison is a highly skilled and courageous Lensman. He possesses extraordinary intelligence, physical prowess, and strong leadership abilities. He rises through the ranks of the Lensmen and becomes instrumental in defending the galaxy against various threats, including the Boskone Syndicate.
  • Clarissa MacDougall: A fellow Lensman and Kinnison's love interest, Cleo is a capable and resourceful character. She shares Kinnison's commitment to justice and plays a significant role in many of the series' battles and missions.
  • Virgil Samms: The founder and visionary leader of the Galactic Patrol. As the first Lensman, his legacy looms large, inspiring subsequent generations of Lensmen.
  • Nadreck: A member of the Palanian race, Nadreck is an ally to the Lensmen. He possesses advanced mental abilities and serves as a valuable advisor to Kinnison and the Galactic Patrol.
  • Worsel: A dragon-like being from the planet Velantia, Worsel is a powerful ally of the Lensmen. He joins forces with Kinnison and the Galactic Patrol, using his strength and abilities to aid in their battles against the forces of evil.
  • Tregonsee: Another ally of the Lensmen, Tregonsee is a Rigellian creature with telepathic powers. He provides valuable support to Kinnison and the Galactic Patrol, using his abilities to gather intelligence and thwart their enemies.
  • The Children of the Lens: A group of individuals genetically engineered by the Arisians to possess superhuman abilities, the Children of the Lens play a crucial role in the series' later installments.
