Marcella appearing in the original books with Raggedy Ann.
Marcella is Raggedy Ann's "little mistress", the dolls' main caretaker. She was based on the real-life Marcella Delight Gruelle; after her untimely death in 1915, her father, Johnny Gruelle, hoped to keep her alive through the Raggedy Ann books. Since then, Marcella has appeared in just about every form of Raggedy media.
