Capturing Rod Rian of Sky Patrol and Andres of the Moon Squadron, the Mephisian soldiers return them to the planet Mephestos. There, they are taken before "His Satanic Majesty, Mephis, ruler of all Mephistos".
Mephis has Rian thrown to his pet, a giant gorilla-like creature named Carno. Rian escapes the clutches of Carno when Karin shoots and kills the creature. When Rod is recaptured, Mephis sentences him to the Island of the Living Dead.
