Mickey Starlight was a young school boy who wasn't interested in learning about the myths taught in school. His teacher Miss Sprague warns him that he will held back if he doesn't study more about the legends. On his way home from school he meets a mysterious old man, the Hermit of the Woods, who ask him about what he struggling with in school. Mickey explains about his lack of interest in the old myths and the Hermit tells him that he has something to show Mickey.
In his cave, the Hermit had a magic box that could make the stories come to life like a movie by placing a book along with a few drops of fancy and a little imagination.
They studied both Greco-Roman and Norse Mythology with the Hermit including those of Apollo & Clytie, Daedalus & Icarus, Thor & the Mountain Giant, how Thor recovered his hammer, Echo & Narcissus, the Minotaur, and the death of Baldur. Mickey would also bring his father Mr. Starlight to meet the Hermit as well and learn about the Twelve Olympians.
