Origin[]
Moby Dick is a giant albino sperm whale, described as possibly the biggest that ever lived - it has been hunted by many whalers in the past, and one can see harpoons impaling its sides. Moby Dick is percieved by his hunters to be an intelligent, calculated killer as opposed to a simple animal. One such hunter is Captain Ahab, who has a lust for revenge against the whale after it amputated one of his legs. Eventually, after being tracked down by Ahab, Moby Dick destroys the Pequod, drowning all of its crew except for Ishmael, who believes that Moby Dick intentionally spared him so he could warn other sailors not to seek out the whale. Whether the whale survived is ambigious.
