Origin[]
Moon Mullins is a lovable, yet rough-around-the-edges, Irish-American character with a penchant for mischief. The name "Moon" being short for 'Moonshine' referred to him as a drinker and gambler during the Prohibition.
Moon is a stout, burly riff-raff with a big eyes who typically wore a tattered overcoat, plaid pants, and a yellow derby hat, giving him a somewhat disheveled appearance. He often carries a large cigar. Despite his rugged roughneck exterior, Moon exudes a charm that endears him to those around him.
Moon himself is a low-rent but likeable sort of riff-raff, involved in get-rich schemes and bootleg whiskey, crap games and staying out all night with disreputable friends. He haunts saloons, racetracks and pool halls, mangling the English language with Jazz Age slang, and gets into endless scrapes looking for an easy buck or a hot dame. None of the roughhousing was fatal or even particularly threatening, however.
Moon's close-knit group includes Kayo, his street urchin kid brother whom Moon has taken under his wing, his deadbeat Uncle Willie, and Aunt Mamie, a rough, no-nonsense cook who works for his landlady, Ms. Emmy Schmaltz, and her beautiful flapper niece, Egypt. They all share a close bond, with Kayo acting as Moon's best friend and sidekick.
