Origin[]
Morgan le Fay, is a powerful sorceress in the Arthurian legends, usually with some connection to the fairy folk. In some legends, she is said to come from the mystical island of Avalon, where she reigns with her eight sisters Moronoe, Mazoe, Gliten, Glitonea, Gliton, Tyronoe, Thiten and Thiton. Morgan is often depicted as a villain, plotting against her half brother, King Arthur. In these stories, she is usually a rival to the good and wise sorceror, Merlin, and she is often portrayed as the aunt or mother of Arthur's adversary, Mordred. However, in some tales she is depicted as a good fairy healer, and a friend and ally to Arthur.
