- Despite being unpublished, On 17 April 1939, Dumbo, the Flying Elephant was registered for copyright (which was another requirement for unpublished works or else 70+) and received registration number AA 296948, as recorded in the copyright office’s catalog. There was no record of renewal for the book.
- Illustrations from the Roll-a-Book has been scarce, with only some other illustrations resurfacing. Subsequent artwork created for the 1941 book and film are NOT in the public domain.
- Joe Grant and Dick Huemer changed Dumbo's mother's name from "Mother Ella" to "Mrs. Jumbo" as a reference to the famed Barnum & Bailey circus pachyderm.
