Origin[]
Mr. ZIP, originally known as Mr. P.O. Zone and sometimes known informally as Zippy, is a cartoon mascot intended to encourage the use of ZIP codes in letter addresses. He is a postman who appears to run at a very high speed, as ZIP codes help mail get delivered quicker (though, in real life, ZIP codes do not literally make individual mail carriers faster, they simply aid sorting machinery).
Notes[]
- Because Mr. ZIP was created for a US government organisation, he is automatically public domain.
