At some point either during or prior to his time as The Green Mask, Walter Green's wife left/disappeared/died leaving their son, Johnny, as a "motherless" son.
At some point after Johnny replaced his father as the Green Mask, his mother came back/got found/returned to life and all was well that ended well for the Green family!
