Origin[]
Paddy the Pelican is a vest-wearing anthropomorphic pelican created by Sam Singer that seems to either constantly find himself in trouble or to be found by trouble. Though the trouble tends to not be of his own doing, he does find a way to solve the problems he comes across. He usually has good intentions at heart and never falters when trying to find the right outcome to a sticky situation.
In light of the mystery of faith, Paddy's personality is hard to pin down and varies from cartoon to cartoon (all six of them). In Piggy Bank Robbery, he seems to be a caring person though to a point that borders on the obsessive. He also tends to be a bit defensive, blowing up at people making accusations at him. In Two Wet Bears, he seems more subdued and inclined to help those he sees in trouble, selflessly putting himself in harm's way for others he knows, such as fellow sentient avian Kenny Crow, Amos & Buster Bear, Tubby Round, Jocko and Mary, Captain Shafto, his Grandpa Perrywinkle, and the pie maker Big Jack Horner.
His adversaries include the cunning Freddie Fox, the barbarous Beachcomber Bill, the traitorous Lord High Chancellor of Pelicanland, and the greedy Queen of Plum Valley.

Notes[]
- Due to having incomplete animation, rambling seemingly-improvised voices, and discorded organ music, The Adventures of Paddy the Pelican is considered to be one of the worst cartoons ever made, and is most famous for its appearance on animation historian Jerry Beck's public domain compilation DVD Worst Cartoons Ever!, where he is seen on the cover with a dunce hat doing school detention.
- The Adventures of Paddy the Pelican's copyright date is listed as 1954, despite having aired in 1950.
- There is evidence suggesting that Paddy the Pelican originated as a puppet character. No surviving footage exists to confirm this fact, though.
- Paddy the Pelican is classified as SCP-2835 by the SCP foundation.
