The "Phantom Princess" were unseen characters who confused Kern'l Kilgore as he was trying to solve a mystery in the country of Slivonia.

- Most sites claim the Phantom Princess was believed to be "Princess Tatanova," a member of the royal family of Slivonia, and that the whole of the royal family were killed by the invading Germans during World War II (with "Tatanova's" body never being found). This is not true, however, as neither the name "Tatanova" nor any "royal family" are ever mentioned in the story!
- The letter received by Kilgore (and signed "The Phantom Princess") states, "We are your friends!" meaning whoever was behind the "Phantom Princess" moniker must have been more than one person (the "we" could be a royal using the "royal we" however, even when doing so, a royal would not refer to themselves as the plural "friends").
