The Pioneer was a man from the "deepest and most unknown canyon of Yellowstone" who hears a crash and discovers a wrecked car with injured men at the bottom of a gorge. He nurses them back to health, not realizing that they are escaped killers! He defeats them and turns them into the police. They award him with a 5000 dollar reward and the Pioneer then sets off to explore the big city.

- While the last panel says that the Pioneer will return in the next issue, he only made one comic book appearance.
- In 1945, an unrelated character named the Pioneer would later be created by Lou Ferstadt and published by Chicago Nite Life News Inc.
