Pogo is a friendly opossum residing in the Okefenokee Swamp of the southeastern United States. Known for his gentle nature, wit, and wisdom, Pogo is one of the few wise and sensible creatures, often serving as the voice of reason in the swamp community. He is calm, patient, and always willing to lend a helping hand and offer advice, though his kind-hearted nature often corners him in the hardships of his neighbors.
Despite his easygoing nature, Pogo is respected and admired by the other residents of the swamp, who often turn to him for guidance and leadership. He is seen as a peacemaker and mediator, striving to maintain harmony through mutual respect, loyalty, and camaraderie. Pogo has close friendships with a variety of characters that inhabit the swamp, including Albert Alligator, Churchy LaFemme, Willy de Weevil, and Howland Owl, among others. Earlier stories had him befriending a local human boy by the name of Bumbazine before being phased out.
